Our commitment

Calm Choices exists for families of sensory-sensitive children, so accessibility is a design requirement, not an afterthought. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the app.

What the app already provides

• Reduce motion — a setting that minimises animation throughout the app, and automatic respect for your device's own reduce-motion preference.
• Celebration control — confetti and celebration effects can be switched off entirely.
• Visual-only mode — meal choices can be shown as pictures alone for pre-readers and non-readers.
• Low-arousal design — a deliberately calm, low-saturation colour palette with one accent colour per screen.
• Large touch targets and a consistent, shallow navigation structure.
• Readable typography with a minimum 15px body size and strong colour contrast against the background.

Known limitations

• Screen-reader labelling is not yet complete across every control; this is in active development.
• Some meal images are emoji, whose spoken descriptions vary by device.
