Who we are
Calm Choices is made by Kind Lemur Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@kind-lemur.co.uk.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address and encrypted password, if you create an account.
- App data — the information you enter while using Calm Choices: meal lists, meal tags, weekly plans, meal outcomes, shopping list state, custom recipes and app settings. If you sign in, this is synced to your account so it is available across your devices. If you do not sign in, it is stored only on your device and never leaves it.
- Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details. We store only a Stripe reference so we know your subscription status.
We do not use advertising, tracking cookies or third-party analytics. The app uses your device's local storage solely to make the app work.
Children's data
Calm Choices is designed for parents and carers. Accounts are held by adults. However, the app data you enter — such as meal preferences and outcomes — may relate to your child. We treat all such data as personal data and apply the standards of the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code: we collect the minimum needed for the app to work, we do not profile children, we do not use their data for marketing, and we never sell any data.
Why we process your data (lawful bases)
- Contract — providing the app, your account, sync and your subscription.
- Legal obligation — tax and accounting records relating to payments.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure and responding to support requests.
We will only send marketing email if you separately opt in, and you can withdraw at any time.
Where your data lives
Synced data is stored with Supabase in the EU (EU-West region). Payments are processed by Stripe. Both act as our processors under written terms that meet UK GDPR requirements.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Account → Delete my account), your account, synced app data and any active subscription are deleted or cancelled immediately. Payment records are retained as required by UK tax law (6 years).
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Export and deletion are built into the app (Account screen). You also have the right to object, to restrict processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We are registered with the ICO.
